HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE NOTES: Lee latches on at Thomas
Former Cony standout southpaw Eric Lee will pitch for Thomas
College next season, saying he wanted a chance to play
somewhere as a freshman.
REX TURNER : Modern camping equipment takes it to the extreme
If you haven't been shopping for camping gear in a while, let
me just tell you things have changed. It could be argued
that some of this is for the best, but in some cases,
products on the shelves seem a little outrageous. Pre-
packaged, sharpened marshmallow sticks are sold -- case
in point.
KEN ALLEN : Sandals work for outdoor types
In summer, I wear sandals almost exclusively for general
walking, semi-serious hiking and fishing, a point that annoys
a good friend, Tom Seymour of Waldo. I've mentioned this
before here, but the sandal trend has increased rapidly in
the last few years, leaving the naysayers behind.
YOUTH SOFTBALL: Augusta team to compete in regionals
The Capital Mainiacs, an Augusta youth softball team
comprised of players ages 12 and under, qualified for a
regional tournament with a chance to reach the national
stage for the second time in three summers.
OUTDOORS: Stay on point
Trembling hands lead me to believe that I've had too much
coffee.
